Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for talented individuals to join the treatment team as a Band 5 Treatment Radiographer within the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust's radiotherapy department. We are seeking enthusiastic, motivated, and dynamic candidates who will integrate quickly with the team. We encourage students expecting to qualify in summer 2025 to apply now.

Our department has established a SABR treatment delivery programme and is now utilizing SGRT on our newest linac. We also treat intra-cranial SRS, TBI, TLNI, and brachytherapy. This role offers the chance to expand your knowledge across treatment and pre-treatment pathways, and you will be expected to participate in the emergency on-call rota.

We actively support professional development and encourage radiographer-led research and QI projects. We offer flexible working arrangements, and all applicants should support the service's working hours and work across sites.

Our equipment portfolio includes five TrueBeam Linacs, a Siemens Open go.Pro CT scanner, and an Xstrahl unit. Our Elekta Flexitron Brachytherapy unit is based at Hammersmith Hospital in a dedicated brachytherapy suite. We are about to replace our two oldest linacs and will be installing the Accuray Radixact system, making this an exciting time to join our team.

Main duties of the job
  1. Maintain clinical practice standards through ongoing professional development.
  2. Achieve and maintain performance standards for clinical and non-clinical tasks.
  3. Be professionally and legally accountable for your own clinical practice.
  4. As an IR(ME)R operator, take full responsibility for treatment preparation, calculations, and treatments, ensuring they are signed off as correct.
  5. Be aware of your knowledge limitations and seek advice or assistance when needed from colleagues, Medical Physics Experts, or Consultant Clinical Oncologists.
  6. Work on a rotational and on-call basis within all treatment preparation, planning, and treatment areas.
  7. Interpret treatment prescriptions, plans, and patient side effects to provide appropriate treatment and advice.
  8. Collaborate with colleagues across sites to standardize procedures and techniques.
  9. Ensure accurate documentation of all treatment-related information.
  10. Assist in maintaining and checking treatment records.
