Job summary

Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced nurse to lead the Macmillan Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist Team. You will provide expert care and leadership for patients with suspected or diagnosed lung cancer, ensuring personalised care throughout the pathway.

You will work with the multidisciplinary team as a clinical expert and advocate, shaping service development, quality improvement, education and research within the NHS environment.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with current UK professional registration.
  • Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent; commitment to CPD.
  • Experience leading a specialist nursing team in oncology.
  • Knowledge of lung cancer pathways and national standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and operational leadership to the Lung Cancer CNS Team.
  • Deliver expert care, support and advice for patients with suspected or confirmed lung cancer.
  • Coordinate patient care across the cancer pathway and ensure timely access to treatment.
  • Act as a key worker and advocate for patients and their families.
  • Lead holistic needs assessments and personalised care planning.
  • Collaborate with the Lung Cancer MDT and wider teams to ensure seamless care.
  • Line manage and develop the specialist nursing team.
  • Lead service improvement, audits, governance and education initiatives.
  • Contribute to strategic development and national cancer standards.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated nurse to lead the Macmillan Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist Team. You will provide expert specialist nursing care and leadership for patients with suspected or diagnosed lung cancer, ensuring high-quality, personalised care throughout the patient pathway.

Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will act as a clinical expert, key worker and patient advocate while supporting service development, quality improvement, education and research. This role offers an excellent opportunity to shape and develop lung cancer services while leading a dedicated specialist nursing team

Main duties of the job
  • Provide clinical and operational leadership to the Lung Cancer CNS Team.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of lung cancer pathways and treatments
