Job description

Job Title: Machinist Team Member

Department: Tata Steel Tubes

Location: Corby (NN17)

Salary: £31,982 plus 15% shift allowance – rising to £32,684 plus 15% on successful completion of probationary period

Shift Pattern: 15-shift basis (Monday to Friday)

Closing Date: Wednesday 14th May 2025

Interviews: w/c 19th May 2025

This is a great opportunity to join our Engineering Shop at Corby, where we’ve invested over £500,000 in new machinery, with plans for another £1 million over the next two years.

What you will do:

As a Machinist, you will produce and repair components essential to our manufacturing. Working from engineering drawings, you will machine parts to tight tolerances using lathes, milling machines, and other tools.

You will be part of a supportive, safety-conscious team, working 8-hour shifts Monday to Friday on a rotating schedule covering days, backs, and nights.

You will also participate in the relocation of the Engineering Shop to a new, upgraded workshop, with modern equipment and facilities.

What you will need:

We are seeking someone with:

  • A time-served apprenticeship or proven experience
  • An NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds qualification, or equivalent
  • Experience with manual lathes, milling machines, and workshop tools
  • A valid driving license
  • Good understanding of safe systems of work

It would be advantageous if you have:

  • Experience with CNC machines, including setting and programming
  • Safety qualifications such as IOSH or NEBOSH

We welcome candidates with limited experience who show potential and willingness to develop. An extended probation may be applied in such cases.
