Job summary

JMC Aviation is recruiting a Machinist for a leading aerospace client in the United Kingdom. The role involves operating manual and CNC machines to repair customer equipment according to technical data and orders, while adhering to safety and quality standards.

The ideal candidate will read engineering drawings, set up and run machines, diagnose faults, and have aerospace machining experience or a strong interest in the field.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret engineering data and drawings.
• Ability to set up and run machines.
• Experience of diagnosing and resolving faults.
• Previous machining experience within the aerospace industry desirable.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Use manual and CNC machinery (lathes, mills, jig borers, grinders) to repair customer equipment.
• Read and interpret drawings, GD&T and work orders to sequence operations.
• Diagnose and resolve common machine faults to minimise downtime.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on machinery.

About the Role

On behalf of our client, a leading organisation in the aviation industry, we are currently recruiting for a Machinist. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic environment with a strong focus on safety, compliance and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Use a range of machinery both manual and CNC, including lathes, mills, jig borers and grinders to perform repairs to customers’ equipment in accordance with their order requirements and the approved technical data
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerances and work orders to determine the exact sequence of operations
• Diagnosing and resolving common machine problems such as tool chatter, poor surface finishes, misaligned parts or minor mechanical faults to minimize downtime
• Carry out routine and preventative maintenance tasks to machinery
• Comply with all safety requirements and ensure the correct use of PPE
• Removal and installation of bushings, bearings, cups and liners

Candidate Requirements

• Ability to read and interpret engineering data and drawings
• Ability to set up and run machines
• Experience of diagnosing and resolving faults
• Previous machining experience within the aerospace industry desirable
• Right to work in the UK
