Job description

Machinery Buyer | Near Saxmundham | Up to £38,000 + Excellent Benefits + Hybrid Working

We’re recruiting for a Buyer (Machinery) to join a forward-thinking procurement team within this highly reputable agricultural focused organisation. This is a varied, commercially driven role that offers scope beyond the typical purchasing position — and while the focus includes machinery and vehicles, they are open to candidates from machinery, engineering, automotive, or technical buying backgrounds.

The Opportunity:

A mix of commercial negotiation, supplier relationship management, member support and team supervision. You’ll help shape supplier partnerships, negotiate the best possible terms, develop new product offers, and work directly with members to provide tailored, unbiased advice.
  • Sourcing and negotiating the purchase of machinery, vehicles, and related services for a loyal and growing membership base.
  • Building and maintaining supplier relationships — always seeking ways to improve service, pricing, and innovation.
  • Identifying new opportunities to broaden the product and service offering.
  • Working closely with members to deliver unbiased advice, tailored solutions, and ensure offers meet their requirements.
  • Leading and supporting a small team — providing guidance, mentoring, and ensuring a collaborative, high-performing environment.
  • Managing orders, contracts, and supplier data to maintain quality and efficiency standards.
You’ll also lead a small, capable team and play a key part in driving continuous improvement and new commercial opportunities within the business.

What You’ll Bring:
  • Buying or procurement experience in Machinery, vehicles, engineering, agriculture or similar sectors.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a proactive, opportunity-led mindset.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Organised, IT literate (MS Office), with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A collaborative approach, with confidence to work independently.
What’s On Offer:
  • Up to £38,000 salary
  • 7% non-contributory pension
  • Hybrid working (max 2 days home)
  • 22 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Healthcare cash plan, life insurance, enhanced family leave
  • Cycle to work scheme, personal loan option, social events & more
