Job summary

ALPLA is seeking a technician with a mechanical engineering background to support moulding operations in a fast-paced plastics environment. The role covers ensuring machines run reliably, maintaining quality at the packing stage, and keeping the area clean and orderly.

Relevant experience in blow/injection moulding is beneficial and will be valued in day-to-day trouble shooting and setup. The position is based on site within a manufacturing setting, offering inclusion of various employee

Qualifications

• Candidates will have a mechanical engineering background.
• Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing/production environment.
• Exposure to plastic manufacturing processes (Blow Moulding / Injection Moulding) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Ensure moulding machines and ancillary equipment are in good running order.
• Report defects and perform remedial work within technician competence.
• Check product quality at packing and complete relevant paperwork.
• Remove, refit, realign or adjust machine parts within technician level.
• Maintain raw material supplies by changing bins and report shortages.
• Keep moulding area and machines clean and well-organised.
• Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and plastic processing exposure is advantageous.

Job description

To ensure that the moulding machines run to the specification established by the Technician Department and that the containers are produced to the customers agreed specification - also a focus on minimizing downtime and scrap levels. This role is based in the EBM/SBM departments. Tasks & responsibilities:

• To ensure that moulding machines and ancillary equipment are in good running order. To report any defects to supervision and carry out any remedial work as instructed by supervision which is within the technician's level of competence
• To ensure that product arriving at the packing station is to an acceptable quality standards - This involves regular checks on the quality of production, both for visual faults and weight and filling in correctly all relevant paperwork
• To remove, clean, refit, realign or carry out other necessary adjustments to parts of moulding machines which are within the level of competence of the technician. This to include work on heads, tooling, blowpins, screws, barrels, blades, moulds and ancillary equipment.
• To ensure that raw material supplies are constant by changing over bins. To report to supervision if a fresh bin in usable condition is not available by the machine before a problem is created on the machine
• To ensure that the moulding machines, ancillary equipment and the immediate work area are maintained to a high standard of housekeeping and cleanliness at all times
