Job summary

ALPLA UK is seeking a Technician to manage 12-hour shift operations on a 4 on 4 off basis at Bridgwater. You will ensure machines run to spec, produce containers to required standards, and minimize downtime and scrap. Training is provided, with potential career progression within a global manufacturing organisation.

Ideal candidates will have experience in a fast-paced production setting, basic machinery operation skills, and strong teamwork and communication abilities.

Qualifications

• Experience of working within a fast-paced manufacturing/production environment.
• Previous experience of operating/running machinery would be advantageous.
• Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure machines and equipment are in good running order.
• Report defects to supervision and carry out remedial work as instructed.
• Ensure product arriving at packing station meets quality standards through regular checks.
• Remove and adjust moulding/machinery components within competence level.
• Maintain constant raw material supplies by changing over bins and reporting availability.
• Keep moulding area and equipment clean and well maintained.

Technician – Shift Basis – 4 on 4 off (12 hour shift – Days & Nights)

Starting Salary: £30,000 + Regular Salary Reviews + Benefits & Career Progression

We currently have an opportunity within our Production Technician team at our Bridgwater site (TA6) easily accessed via M5.

Please note that we will provide training for this role, however some manufacturing/machinery maintenance experience would be highly advantageous.

Purpose of job/mission

To ensure that the machines run to the specification established by the Technician Department and that the containers are produced to the customers agreed specification – also a focus on minimizing downtime and scrap levels.

Tasks & responsibilities

• To ensure that machines and equipment are in good running order.
• To report any defects to supervision and carry out any remedial work as instructed by supervision which is within the technician's level of competence.
• To ensure that product arriving at the packing station is to an acceptable quality standards - This involves regular checks on the quality of production, both for visual faults and weight and filling in correctly all relevant paperwork.
• To remove, clean, refit, realign or carry out other necessary adjustments to parts of moulding machines which are within the level of competence of the technician. This to include work on heads, tooling, blowpins, blades, and ancillary equipment.
• To ensure that raw material supplies are constant by changing over bins. To report to supervision if a fresh bin in usable condition is not available by the machine before a problem is created on the machine.
• To ensure that the moulding machines, ancillary equipment and the immediate work area are maintained to a high standard of housekeeping and cleanliness at all times.

Skills/Experience

• Experience of working within a fast-paced manufacturing/production environment would be advantageous.
• Previous experience of operating/running machinery would be advantageous.
• Good communication skills.
