Job description

NES Fircroft are currently recruiting for a Machine Shop Technician / CNC Machinist for our client, who are a global, industry leader in power technology.

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a machine shop technician, you will be responsible for machining a wide range of AM components for the gas turbine and Aerospace industry. This will include milling/turning using both CNC and manual machine tools, inspection of parts to conform with engineering drawings. Working as part of a team to ensure H S, quality and production targets are met.


This will be a temporary role initially to cover maternity leave, but potential to lead to a permanent role due to forecast growth.


How You’ll Make an Impact
  1. Your prime role will be setting and operating a DMG 5 axis CNC mill and 2 axis CNC lathe.
  2. It is expected that you will develop and share best practices with team members to enhance quality and efficiency.
  3. Interpreting engineering drawings to enable programming and setting of machines to produce new product components.
  4. Be a keen lead in 5S and FOD adherence.
  5. With exceptional growth coming in the next two years, it is likely that you will become involved with many other activities that the Operations department support and deliver.

What You Bring

  2. Good organisational skills and the ability to work well with others to achieve shared goals.
  3. High energy level and able to work flexible hours.
  4. Able to motivate and develop partners to meet performance requirements.
  5. An Engineering apprenticeship and/or minimum 5 years Machine shop experience.
  6. Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels are essential.
  7. Strong mindset for continuous improvement.
  8. Experience in using and programming 840D controllers or similar an advantage but not essential.

About the Team

You will be working alongside a variety of skill levels ranging from apprentices to experienced, skilled operators and setters. You will also work closely with other MSL teams to ensure all procedures and customer requirements are met.


Compensation and Benefits

• Up to £36k PA
• 37.5 Hrs per week, 07.00 – 15.00
• Two paid 15 minute breaks, 1 unpaid 30 minute break
