Overview

J P Forrest & Son are sub contract engineers specialising in medium-heavy fabricated and machined components manufactured to customer-specific requirements in small batches or one-offs, such as gearbox housings, main frames and sub-assemblies for industries including Rail, Oil and Gas, Steel making, Renewable Energy, Mining and Quarrying.

We are looking for someone with extensive machine shop knowledge who can effectively supervise a team of ten skilled machinists working on horizontal borers and lathes.

Responsibilities
  • Produce time/cost estimates for machining operations.
  • Plan and program machining operations to ensure jobs are completed correctly and within budget, using CAD/CAM software and Heidenhain / Fanuc controls.
  • Plan machine shop workload to ensure jobs are completed on time.
  • Communicate with operators and customers as necessary to resolve machining issues
Qualifications
  • Good people skills, including motivation and effective discipline.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety legislation, Employment Law and ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems.
Working hours

Working hours are 39 hours per week:
Monday to Thursday: 7.30am - 4.30pm
Friday: 7.30am - 12.30pm

Reasonable flexibility is allowed around these hours
