Responsibilities
PURPOSE:
As an Operator I/II, the ideal candidate will learn to do the job and learn company policies and procedures to complete routine tasks. Follow written procedures and verbal instructions to accomplish assignments of a routine and repetitive nature. Considered an apprentice or trainee. Moderate understanding of the general job aspects and superficial understanding of the technical parts of the job.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow all company policies regarding safety, quality, and attendance. Perform duties in a safe manner and report all observed safety hazards to the Senior Operator, Production Supervisor, Team Lead, or Safety Manager. Act as a role model for safety on shift. Participate in safety by reporting unsafe conditions, unsafe acts, and close calls; make entries into the Global Data Center (GDC).
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area; meet plant and department housekeeping standards. May be assigned additional housekeeping responsibilities throughout the plant as needed to maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
- Assist operators with extruder start-ups. Thread equipment with film (e.g., winders, folders, bag machines, printers). Thread the tower with rope.
- Change the formula percentages on blenders according to the Traveler Report and verify that the blender produces correct batches. Adjust percentage formulas, switch to new color formulas, and zero out the scale blenders. Enable/disable hopper set fill times (in seconds).
- Identify when the vacuum pump filter is dirty and replace it. Recognize when the screen pack is dirty, prepare it for replacement, and install a new one. Detect worn sock sleeves on stabilizers and replace them. Identify worn print plates on printers, replace, and clean as necessary.
- Assist in giving breaks to packers on the lines.
- Participate in employee-driven teams to address scrap, quality, safety, or other production issues.
- If assigned to Roll Stock, must be capable of becoming forklift certified.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
