Job summary

INSPIRED Pet Nutrition Ltd in Thirsk is seeking a Machine Operative in packing to operate automated packaging lines for kibble products. You will participate in a four-cell shift rotation and ensure accurate bagging, sealing, and stacking of products for dispatch.

The role requires good literacy, IT literacy, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must live within 30 miles of YO7 3HE with own transport and be able to lift up to 25kg.

Responsibilities

• Package kibble into bags and seal/wrap/stack using automated machines and robots.
• Operate and adjust machines during shifts and monitor quality checks hourly.
• Follow production guidelines and ensure correct packing of products.
• Monitor machinery and equipment performance; report issues.
• Follow the Clean As You Go policy and maintain hygiene standards.
• Promote a safe, compliant work culture and report safety concerns.

Job description

Machine Operative - Packing

Thirsk | Permanent | Site-based

The Role:

In the packing department, your role involves packaging the extruded kibble produced by the on-site extruder department into specific bags for customers. You'll work as part of a shift rotation within one of four cells, each equipped with automated machines and robots that assist in the bagging, sealing, wrapping, and stacking processes. Once completed, the packaged bags are sent to the warehouse department.

On Offer:

• £13.31 per hour
• 48 hours per week - Monday - Thursday (12 hour shifts)
• Days between 5.30am / 17.30pm
• Paid monthly (last Friday of each month)

The role will involve:

• Ensuring that the highest level of quality is maintained by carrying out quality checks at hourly intervals throughout your shift and recording the information on our paper-based documents.
• Setting up and operating machines throughout your shift.
• Following production guidelines and ensuring our products are packed correctly.
• Monitoring the effectiveness of the machinery and equipment.
• Following the IPN 'Clean As You Go' policy at all times to ensure that the machine is operating to the highest standards of hygiene.
• Promoting a people safe culture, complying with policies and procedures, reporting any safety observations and plant damage through the appropriate channels.

You’ll need to:

• Have a good standard of education; demonstrate good literacy and numerical skills, be able to understand, communicate and report clearly in English.
• Be IT Literate and record data onto the factory computers.
• Be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Live in a 30 mile radius of our location which is YO7 3HE and have your own transport.
• Be able to lift up to 25kg and be able to work on your feet for long periods.
• Undertake training and assist with the training of other colleagues when required.
