Job Description

Job Title: Machine Operator

Location: Skipton

Salary: £12.22 to £14.50 per hour, Dependant on Skills and Experience

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Shift Pattern: Weekly rotating shift pattern: 6am to 2pm Monday to Friday, 2pm to 11pm Monday to Thursday, 2pm to 6pm on a Friday. Whilst training, hours will be 8am to 5.15pm Monday to Thursday, 8am to 5pm on Friday.

Responsibilities:

  1. Learn and operate machines according to our Skills matrix, including Die Cutting, Folding Gluing, Laminating, and Printing.
  2. Inspect and manage machines to ensure high-quality production.
  3. Understand different job needs, organize job sequences, and assess requirements.
  4. Maintain production quality by inspecting materials and correcting errors.
  5. Ensure equipment is in good condition through preventive maintenance and liaising with the engineering team.
  6. Operate machinery, set machines for various customer products, and adjust tooling as needed.
  7. Monitor machine speeds to maintain efficiency and meet targets.
  8. Report tooling damages or upgrades to the team leader and assist with weekly maintenance following hygiene standards.
  9. Learn and operate other process lines and machines as part of training and development.

Candidate Specification:

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience in machine operation is essential.
  • Team player and willing to assist others.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Experience in the packaging industry is desirable, including die cutting, folding gluing, laminating, and printing.
  • Understanding of BRC Food safety and HACCP is advantageous (training provided).
  • Forklift driving experience is advantageous.

Additional Information: The role requires flexibility and may include other duties. Training will be provided as needed.
