Job description

Job Description

Penzance Dry Dock are looking for a Machine Operator to work closely with their maintenance team.

The candidate would need the skills and the ability to re-establish and maintain the machine shop.

The successful candidate will need to be a qualified Engineer with a minimum of an NVQ3 level qualification or equivalent and with at least two years’ experience in a similar role.

The successful applicant will need to have experience of lathes, mills, grinders etc. and ideally have some experience/proficiency in using CAD for programming our CNC plasma cutter.

Responsibilities

The successful applicant would:

·Be responsible for the safe operation of all of the equipment in the Machine Shop.

·Be responsible for the efficient use of the machine equipment.

·Ensure the Machine Shop working environment is kept clean and tidy at all times.

·Support the site Engineering team on all project work that comes into the Dry Dock.

·Ensure that all of the equipment is regularly maintained, serviced and replaced as/when required.

·Have a strong attention to detail and be flexible to support other parts of the maintenance team as/when needed

This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, starting at 07.45 and leaving at 16.30 with an unpaid lunch break.

The salary for this position is £16.00 per hour.
