Overview

We’re looking for a skilled and safety-focused Machine Operator with experience operating 360° excavators (under and over 10 tonnes) on rail and civil engineering projects. This role involves a variety of infrastructure works, including embankment regrading, drainage installation, and ground stabilisation. The ideal candidate will be a reliable team player who can also work independently while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in rail and civil engineering environments, with a proven ability to operate 360° excavators (below and above 10 tonnes) safely and efficiently. They will:

Responsibilities
  • Hold valid PTS and CPCS certifications for relevant plant categories.
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience in embankment works, drainage installation, and ground stabilisation.
  • Be confident working on steep gradients, in confined spaces, and to tight tolerances using machine control or grade checkers.
  • Possess a solid understanding of earthworks specifications, site drawings, and safe excavation practices.
  • Be highly safety-conscious, with knowledge of RAMS, SSOW, plant exclusion zones, and environmental controls.
  • Work collaboratively with site teams while also showing initiative and independence.
  • Be reliable, punctual, and adaptable to changing site conditions.
  • Take pride in maintaining equipment and adhering to inspection routines.
