Job summary

Tate & Lyle Sugars in the United Kingdom is seeking a packing line operator to safely run, maintain and improve packaging lines in line with the OEE plan and customer requirements. You will work with the packing team to ensure quality, safety and efficiency across shifts.

Responsibilities include operating packaging lines, performing quality checks, adjusting equipment, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating production or packing machinery.
  • Keyboard skills and IT aptitude to input and access data.
  • Verbal & written communication skills to accurately describe problems, causes and solutions.
  • Planning skills to ensure routine activities can be completed.
  • Attitude of continuous improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Positive and proactive contributor in a team environment.
  • Manual Handling awareness.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills (GCSEs or equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • Operate packing line(s) and other offline equipment to safety, environmental, quality, hygiene and output standards
  • Complete required quality checks, compare results against specified parameters and follow Company Quality procedures for action where required
  • Adjust plant when appropriate to ensure agreed specifications are maintained
  • Use FLT’s to supply lines with packaging equipment
  • Use knowledge and experience to anticipate problems where possible and to solve problems when they do occur using relevant CI tools
  • Record quality and performance data, and monitor line performance trends and material usage taking corrective action where appropriate
  • Clearly communicate handover information and issues within packing team of Operators and Maintenance Technicians
  • Involvement in continuous improvement projects where appropriate

Shift
  • Week 1 - 3 dayshifts (We,Th,Fr)
  • Week 2 - 3 nightshifts (Mo,Tu,We)
  • Week 3 - 2 dayshifts (Mo,Tu) & 2 nightshifts (Th,Fr)
  • Revert to Week 1 etc.
POSITION SCOPE

To safely operate, maintain and improve a packing line to meet the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) plan cost effectively and to agreed customer requirements.
