Job summary

DS Smith Packaging, Porth site, is seeking a Machine Operative for a temporary ongoing position. You will be responsible for setting up and operating production machines, ensuring product quality and maintaining equipment.

The role is based in Porth with a 40-hour week, Monday to Thursday 06:30–15:30 and Friday 06:30–12:30, starting ASAP. A proactive, safety-conscious approach and good IT literacy are essential.

Qualifications

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform manual handling.
• Knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation.
• Able to stand for long periods during shifts.
• Proactive, able to use own initiative.
• Basic IT literacy.
• Flexible with shift patterns and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run machines while following DS Smith processes.
• Ensure produced products meet DS Smith quality standards.
• Maintain and operate own designated machine with pride.
• Support the team to achieve productivity goals and participate in improvement initiatives.
• Carry out weekly and monthly machine maintenance as per schedules.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards.
• Adhere to UK Health and Safety requirements at all times and promote safety.
