Job summary

AJN Steelstock, one of the UK’s leading steel stockholders, is seeking a skilled CNC operator to join our team. You will process customer orders to specifications using CNC machinery and support loading and unloading of plates and parts.

Shift patterns include day, mid and night with overtime available; training is provided on day shifts. We offer competitive salaries, a contributory pension, private medical care and life insurance.

Qualifications

• Reading drawings and orders; ability to follow verbal instructions.
• Experience with measuring equipment and tolerance checks.
• Experience operating forklifts/CombiLifts or side loaders is beneficial.
• Experience using CNC machinery is highly beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual and CNC metalworking machinery to processing standards.
• Process steel to customer specifications and ensure traceability.
• Read drawings and orders, train others in this area.
• Operate forklifts, CombiLifts and cranes safely.
• Prepare orders for loading, banding and palletising.

Job Overview

Working as part of a team of operators to process customer orders to specifications using a selection of CNC based machinery. More specifically, current vacancies include the operation of the following CNC based machines - saws, drills, rapid and plasma profiling machines.

Additionally, the roles will involve the use of CombiLifts (multi directional forklifts).

Salary:

Day shift: £26,500 – £30,000 per annum

Mid shift: £29,210 – £34,500 per annum

Night shift: £33,020 – £39,000 per annum

Overtime -Pre authorised overtime available at time and a half, after 40 hours.

Shift Available:

Day shift (40 hours per week): Monday to Friday (06:00 – 14:00),

Mid shift (40 hours per week): Monday to Friday (14:00 – 22:00),

Night shift (40 hours per week): Sunday to Thursday (22:00 – 06:00)

This includes a 30 minute paid break. All training carried out on day shift.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate a selection of manual and CNC based machinery for metal processing
• Process steel to customers’ requirements and tolerances. Work within the company’s quality system to ensure the full traceability of customer orders
• Be competent at reading drawings, orders and following verbal instructions, be available to train others in this area
• Able to work to high standards under your own initiative and pressure
• Operate forklifts, Combilifts and the crane, safely and in a controlled manner
• Working as part of our team of operators, processing steel to order, as and when orders are generated
• Collating aforementioned orders, including banding, palletising, bagging and preparing them for loading
• Loading, off loading of plate and parts from the plasma machines
• Identify and locate different steel products using appropriate measuring equipment.

Experience

• Experience using measuring equipment, reading drawings, forklifts, CombiLifts or side loaders is beneficial
• Experience using CNC machinery is highly beneficial.
