Job summary

Advanced Engineering in Derby is seeking a Machine Operative to join our production team. You will set up and operate slitting, punch, and micro-perforation machinery to deliver high-quality products to exact customer specs.

This role involves rotating 3 shifts weekly (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm-6am) and requires strict adherence to health and safety standards. You will maintain housekeeping, complete production records, and participate in pre-operational checks.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate slitting, punch, and micro-perforation machines to customer specifications.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards, keeping equipment and work areas clean and safe.
• Carry out pre-operational inspections and report faults or production issues.
• Follow quality procedures and customer requirements to meet specifications at every stage.
• Monitor print position, repeat lengths, and material quality, reporting defects promptly.
• Weigh, label, load and unload finished products using safe manual handling and lifting where required.
• Record production data and ensure targets and quality standards are achieved.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance (PPM) on machinery and report major needs.
• Adhere to Health & Safety policies, PPE requirements, and company procedures.
• Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a positive, productive team environment.
• Report health and safety concerns and support investigations as needed.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by your Supervisor or Management.

About the Role

Salary - £14.42 - £16.22

Hours - 3 shift rotation Monday to Friday - 6am - 2pm, 2pm - 10pm and 10pm - 6am rotating weekly

We are looking for a motivated and reliable Machine Operative to join our clients production team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating slitting, punch, and micro-perforation machinery to produce high-quality finished products to precise customer specifications.

Working as part of our manufacturing team, you will play a key role in helping the business achieve its production, quality, and customer service objectives while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and housekeeping.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate slitting, punch, and micro-perforation machines to customer specifications.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards, ensuring equipment and work areas remain clean, organised, and safe.
• Carry out pre-operational inspections and promptly report any equipment faults or production issues.
• Follow all quality procedures and customer requirements, ensuring products meet specification at every stage.
• Monitor print position, repeat lengths, and material quality, reporting any defects immediately.
• Cut cores accurately while minimising waste through efficient material usage.
• Record production data accurately and ensure production targets and quality standards are achieved.
• Weigh, label, load, and unload finished products using safe manual handling techniques and lifting equipment where required.
• Carry out routine preventative maintenance (PPM) on machinery and report any major maintenance requirements.
• Adhere to all Health & Safety policies, safe working practices, and PPE requirements.
• Ensure compliance with BRC, FSC, and company procedures at all times.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a positive and productive team environment.
• Report all health and safety concerns, near misses, and incidents, and support investigations where required.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by your Supervisor or Management.
