Job description

At Quantinuum, we have formed a new team to implement our AI strategy. This team now consists of 14 employees. We are currently talent pooling for future positions in this team. About the Role

Designing, building, programming, and using a quantum computer pose numerous challenges. Modern AI methods show promise in tackling these, requiring quantum computing scientists to identify use cases and design experiments.

Positions Available

Machine Learning Scientist

In this role, you will design ML experiments in collaboration with ML engineers and quantum scientists, developing tools and frameworks applying AI to quantum computing to solve complex problems. You will have access to Quantinuum’s top quantum computers. Applications include circuit optimization, quantum algorithm design, error mitigation, and integrating AI models with quantum computers to address problems beyond current capabilities.

Machine Learning Engineer

You will utilize state-of-the-art methods, working with quantum scientists to solve problems across the quantum computing stack, such as circuit compilation, error-correcting codes, and exploring quantum advantage by integrating quantum hardware with AI systems.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop novel AI and machine learning use cases for quantum program synthesis.
• Identify high-impact problems that Quantinuum can uniquely solve.
• Collaborate with engineering, product management, and other teams.
• Represent the company at scientific and industry conferences.
• Develop software infrastructure to apply ML methods to quantum computing challenges.
• Implement and run experiments to improve quantum computing technologies.

Key Requirements

• Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Physics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in applied AI for scientific problems.
• Previous experience in quantum computing.
• Familiarity with quantum advantage literature.

Desirable Skills

• Knowledge of quantum computing concepts or related fields like quantum many-body physics.
• Experience with large-scale machine learning, including large language models and reinforcement learning.
• Experience with high-performance computing platforms.
