Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a researcher in Cambridge to advance imaging pipelines for mobile devices using machine learning, computer vision, and image processing. You will develop algorithms that integrate with our camera systems and help deliver high-quality imaging experiences.

You will stay current with state-of-the-art ML/vision research, publish results where appropriate, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to productize innovations for our cameras and photo editing

Qualifications

  • Experience researching, developing, and implementing image processing and machine learning algorithms.
  • Experience training and working with generative models.
  • Strong coding skills in Python including ML frameworks and libraries such as PyTorch.
  • Experience in productizing or publishing research results in fields such as machine learning, image processing, and computer graphics.
  • PhD in Computer Science or related field with focus on ML/vision.

The Camera \& Photos group focuses on perfecting our imaging pipelines using advanced computer vision, computational photography, and machine learning techniques. As a member of this group, you would have the unique opportunity to work on products that are used and enjoyed by millions of people.

As part of the Camera and Photos organization, our team in Cambridge works on camera pipelines specifically for the company’s mobile devices, including the iPhone and iPad. Combining innovative algorithms with optimized implementations, we deliver the quality and features that help redefine computational photography. If you are passionate about inventing and developing new imaging algorithms to improve the photography experience, we would like to hear from you.

Description

You will leverage your research background and knowledge of image processing and machine learning to design, develop, and improve the company imaging and photo editing technologies. You will develop ideas and concepts into commercially viable algorithms. You should stay up-to-date with the cutting-edge developments in machine learning, computer vision, and computational photography, both in academia and in industry. You are expected to leverage your knowledge to work and influence the company's products, specifically as they relate to our camera systems.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in Computer Science or a related field (mathematics or physics), with a focus on or related work in machine learning, computer vision, or imaging

Good understanding of in-camera processing

Strong mathematical and statistical analysis background

Familiarity with object-oriented programming languages such as C++ or Objective C

Ability to work with cross-functional teams

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Minimum Qualifications

Experience researching, developing, and implementing image processing and machine learning algorithms

Experience training and working with generative models

Strong coding skills - preferably in Python including ML-frameworks and libraries such as Pytorch

Experience in productizing or publishing your research results in fields such as machine learning, image processing, and computer graphics
