Job summary

Harnham in London is seeking an experienced ML Engineering Manager to lead a growing team while remaining hands-on in technical delivery. You will own delivery, reliability and the growth of production-grade ML systems across Snowflake and cloud infrastructure.

You will mentor engineers, drive MLOps maturity, and collaborate with data science, engineering and business stakeholders to shape the ML roadmap and ensure scalable, reliable models and pipelines.

You'll operate as a genuine player-coach, combining hands-on technical delivery with team leadership while helping shape the future direction of Machine Learning Engineering across the business.

The Role

As ML Engineering Manager, you will lead a small but growing team while remaining deeply involved in technical delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and developing a team of Machine Learning Engineers and MLOps specialists
• Taking ownership of team delivery, operational performance, and platform reliability
• Building, maintaining, and improving production-grade machine learning systems and pipelines
• Driving the maturity of MLOps capabilities, deployment processes, monitoring, and model lifecycle management
• Establishing engineering best practices across machine learning infrastructure
• Collaborating closely with Data Science, Engineering, and business stakeholders
• Supporting the growth and hiring strategy of the ML Engineering function
• Contributing hands‑on through coding, architecture, code reviews, debugging, and deployments
• Expanding machine learning capabilities within Snowflake and broader cloud infrastructure

Your Skills & Experience:

• Experience leading or managing Machine Learning Engineering, MLOps, or software engineering teams
• Strong commercial experience delivering and operating ML systems in production environments
• Proven ownership of platform delivery, reliability, and operational performance
• Ability to remain hands‑on while managing and mentoring engineers
• Strong software engineering foundations, including Python, APIs, and distributed systems
• Experience with modern MLOps tooling and practices
• Exposure to technologies such as MLflow, Airflow, Metaflow, Great Expectations, Evidently, AWS, and Snowflake
• Experience implementing CI/CD, monitoring, model governance, and deployment frameworks
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
