Job Description:

Role: Machine Learning Engineer

Duration: Initial 6-12 months

Clearance Required: eDV

A leading client within the UK defence sector is seeking experienced Machine Learning Engineers to join their AI and data science division. This role offers the chance to contribute to the UK's national defence while working with advanced AI technologies.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team developing and deploying machine learning models for defence applications, including autonomous systems, surveillance, predictive analytics, and decision-support platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement ML models suitable for real-time or mission-critical defence environments
• Analyze complex datasets such as geospatial, signals, or operational intelligence data
• Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and defence stakeholders for system integration
• Test, validate, and document ML models according to standards
• Stay updated with emerging AI/ML techniques and evaluate their applicability

Qualifications and Skills:

• Strong background in machine learning, data science, or AI, with a related degree
• Proficiency in Python and libraries like TensorFlow and PyTorch
• Experience building and deploying ML pipelines
• Understanding of algorithms in constrained or sensitive environments
• Experience in defence, aerospace, or security sectors is advantageous
• Knowledge of computer vision, signal processing, or NLP
• Familiarity with MLOps, edge computing, or synthetic data
• Knowledge of government or MOD procurement frameworks is a plus
