Job Description:

Role: Machine Learning Engineer

Duration: Initial 6-12 months

Clearance Required: eDV

A leading client within the UK defence sector is seeking experienced Machine Learning Engineers to join their AI and data science division. This role offers the chance to contribute to the UK's national defence while working on cutting-edge AI projects.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team developing and deploying machine learning models for defence applications, including autonomous systems, surveillance, predictive analytics, and decision-support platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement robust ML models for real-time or mission-critical defence environments
  • Analyze complex datasets, including geospatial, signals, or operational intelligence data
  • Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and defence stakeholders for system integration
  • Test, validate, and document ML models in line with standards
  • Stay updated on emerging AI/ML techniques and assess their applicability
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Strong background in machine learning, data science, or AI, with a related degree
  • Proficiency in Python and libraries like TensorFlow and PyTorch
  • Experience building and deploying ML pipelines
  • Understanding of algorithm performance in sensitive environments
  • Experience in defence, aerospace, or security sectors (preferred)
  • Knowledge of computer vision, signal processing, or NLP (preferred)
  • Exposure to MLOps, edge computing, or synthetic data (preferred)
  • Knowledge of government or MOD procurement frameworks (advantage)
