Job Description:

Role: Machine Learning Engineer

Duration: Initial 6-12 months

Clearance Required: eDV

A leading client within the UK defence sector is seeking experienced Machine Learning Engineers to join their AI and data science division. Contribute to UK's national defence by working on advanced AI projects.

The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team developing and deploying ML models for defence applications, including autonomous systems, surveillance, predictive analytics, and decision-support tools.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement ML models suitable for real-time or mission-critical defence environments
• Analyze complex datasets such as geospatial, signals, or operational intelligence data
• Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and defence stakeholders for system integration
• Test, validate, and document ML models according to standards
• Stay updated with emerging AI/ML techniques and evaluate their relevance to defence

Qualifications and Skills:

• Background in machine learning, data science, or AI, with a related degree
• Strong Python programming skills and experience with TensorFlow and PyTorch
• Experience building and deploying ML pipelines
• Understanding of algorithm performance in sensitive environments
• Experience in defence, aerospace, or security sectors is preferred
• Knowledge of computer vision, signal processing, or NLP
• Experience with MLOps, edge computing, or synthetic data
• Knowledge of government or MOD procurement is an advantage
