Job Description:

Role: Machine Learning Engineer

Duration: Initial 6-12 months

Clearance Required: eDV

A leading client within the UK defence sector is seeking experienced Machine Learning Engineers to join their AI and data science division. Contribute to UK’s national defence by working on advanced AI projects.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team developing machine learning models for defence applications, including autonomous systems, surveillance, predictive analytics, and decision-support platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement robust ML models for real-time or mission-critical defence environments
  • Analyze complex datasets such as geospatial, signals, or operational intelligence data
  • Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and defence stakeholders for system integration
  • Test, validate, and document ML models according to standards
  • Stay updated with emerging AI/ML techniques and evaluate their applicability

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong background in machine learning, data science, or AI, with a related degree
  • Programming skills in Python, with experience in TensorFlow and PyTorch
  • Experience building and deploying ML pipelines
  • Understanding of algorithms in constrained or sensitive environments
  • Experience in defence, aerospace, or security sectors is preferred
  • Knowledge of computer vision, signal processing, or NLP
  • Exposure to MLOps, edge computing, or synthetic data generation
  • Knowledge of government or MOD procurement frameworks is a plus
