Job summary

IPL - Part of the Asda Family is seeking a Hygiene Operative in Altofts to maintain clean, compliant areas across the facility. You will monitor chemical readings, follow COSHH guidance and support shift leaders with safety and hygiene tasks.

The role requires practical skills, reliability, and good English. Training and progression opportunities are available as part of our supportive team environment within the Asda family.

Qualifications

• Basic English communication required for shift work and safety notes.
• Food safety and COSHH qualifications are preferred.
• Good practical skills and ability to follow SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Keep operational areas clean to high standards across pack house, warehouse, stores and perimeter.
• Record Sodium Hypochlorite readings and take corrective actions as needed.
• Handle chemicals per COSHH training and regulations.
• Communicate issues to Hygiene supervisor/Shift Operations Leader.
• Ensure training compliance and meet BRC and COSHH standards.
• Maintain cleaning schedules and sign-off records.
• Work efficiently and support team during quieter periods.

Job description

• Keep operational areas clean and to high standards, this includes pack house; warehouse and stores and perimeter of the building.
• You will also be involved in waste processing, water and electricity readings and record, monitoring and recording Sodium Hypochlorite readings complete with relevant corrective action taken
• Handle chemicals as per COSHH training and regulations
• Effectively communicate to Hygiene supervisor/Shift Operations Leader/Area Leader regarding any issues or concerns over any hygiene issues within shift
• Ensure that all training is adhered to and all required areas are controlled to meet BRC and COSHH standards
• Comply with Hygiene Cleaning Schedule
• Record all completed Hygiene on relevant sign off sheets
• Comply with existing Cleaning Instruction cards and SOP's
• Working to a timely manner as to maximize efficiency and completing additional tasks at quieter periods Experience of working with factory environment
• Good practical skills
• The ability to work quickly and methodically within a team environment and follow instructions
• An awareness of Health and Safety and understanding of Health and safety policies in the workplace
• Food Safety Level 1 or equivalent
• COSHH certification
• Good level of understanding of the English language
