A resource recovery company in the UK is seeking a Machine Driver/Operative responsible for operating and maintaining various plant machinery, ensuring safety, and conducting inspections. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with procedures, maintain cleanliness of equipment, and assist with additional tasks as required. The role offers the opportunity to work within a dedicated and safety-focused team.

  • Assist with tasks beyond machine operation as needed.

About The Role

As a Machine Driver/ Operative, you will be responsible for tasks including the loading and unloading of containers and curtain siders, recycling sorting, conducting machine checks, using plant machinery such as a Fork Lift, Loading shovel or 360 Excavator (as appropriate) and ensuring good site housekeeping.

  • To undertake the operation of mobile plant as directed by the site manager.
  • To ensure the mobile plant he is operating undergoes an inspection prior to use with any defects or damage reported to the site manager and noted on the daily check sheet.
  • To ensure Mobile plant is greased all radiators blown clean of dust, and all oil levels maintained in accordance with company/manufacturers procedures.
  • To ensure machine is operated responsibly and only used for the tasks it is designed to carry out.
  • To communicate with colleagues to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the facility.
  • To read, understand and follow all risk assessments, work procedures and safe systems of work.
  • To ensure Mobile plant is washed off at the end of each shift.
  • To carry out tasks other than machine operation as requested by management.
