Summary of the M&E Technicianrole:

Our client is seeking a skilled M&E Technician (with Mechanical Bias) to support the maintenance, repair, and operation of mechanical and electrical systems within a critical environment. The successful candidate will apply specialist trade skills to ensure the safe and efficient functioning of essential plant and equipment. This is a fantastic opportunity for a mechanically biased professional seeking a diverse and dynamic role in an evolving environment.

M&E Technician Deliverables / Outcomes (include but are not limited to):

  • Apply relevant trade skills to any allocated jobs as directed by the Supervisor or Manager.
  • Work alone with minimum supervision or within a team to carry out maintenance/repair or mechanical/electrical services to plant and equipment across the Site. Work alone or in a team, carrying out refurbishments and new works across the Site.
  • Responsible for the safe operation, planned and reactive maintenance of mechanical/electrical systems, and associated plant/equipment installed throughout the Site.
  • To carry out mechanical/electrical works as required, i.e. new works, refurbishment and capital works replacement programme.
  • To carry out mechanical/electrical repairs and cleaning of mechanical components and equipment as necessary.
  • To undertake training and qualify as an Authorised or Competent Person for mechanical/electrical plant and systems as required.
  • Required to participate in a rostered 24-Hour On-Call system providing emergency service during non-working hours, weekends and Bank Holidays.
  • To carry out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) as required / applicable.
  • To comply with Statutory Testing and Inspection Legislation (BS 7671).
  • To prepare pressure vessels for insurance inspections and carry out necessary repairs/testing as required / applicable.
  • To maintain and carry out repairs on HVAC systems, gas appliances, Piped Medical Gas systems, steam plant/equipment, heating, ventilation and all other equipment in plant roomsand public areas as applicable.
  • To undertake work (as applicable) such as electrical/gas welding, operate drill/lathe and similar equipment for purposes of repair and fabrication of minor components in carrying out day-to-day repairs/maintenance and minor works.
  • To undertake (Authorised Persons) duties of training and supervision of maintenance assistants, trainees and apprentices as required.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

Skills:

  • Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills, with expertise in HVAC, Piped Medical Gas, steam plant, heating, and ventilation systems.
  • Competency in Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and knowledge of relevant standards.
  • Proficiency in planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring the safe operation of plant and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, integrating effectively with engineers and other trade professionals.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance within a critical or complex environment.
  • Hands-on experience in plant room operations, including repairs and servicing of essential equipment.
  • Familiarity with statutory compliance testing and relevant documentation.

Qualifications:

  • City & Guilds Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance or an equivalent qualification.
  • Willingness to undertake training to qualify as an Authorised or Competent Person for mechanical and electrical systems (training will be provided).
  • Certification or relevant training in BS 7671 regulations.
  • Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) certification or experience.
  • Health & Safety training (e.g. Safe Systems of Work, Risk Assessments).

Location: Isleworth, on-site

Duration: Permanent

Salary: Up to £44,776 per annum (depending on experience), with overtime available.
