M&E Site Manager / Project Engineer - Water

Job summary

Murray McIntosh is seeking an experienced M&E Site Manager / Project Engineer to lead the delivery of mechanical and electrical installation packages across water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The role is predominantly site-based with occasional office visits and a 12-month rolling contract advertised as outside IR35.

You will coordinate labour, subcontractors and site documentation, ensure safety compliance, and manage RAMS, permits, and project reporting.

Qualifications

• Previous Site Manager, Project Engineer or comparable experience within M&E, utilities or civil engineering.
• Water/wastewater experience is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, CDM and safe systems of work.
• Experience managing subcontractors and site activities.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to travel between different project locations.
• SMSTS and CSCS Manager Card are desirable.
• Experience of RAMS, permits-to-work and Inspection & Test Plans is advantageous.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts would be beneficial.
• First Aid at Work, EUSR Water Hygiene, IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH qualifications would be advantageous.

Location: Bury, Greater Manchester / project sites
Contract: 12-month rolling contract
IR35: Outside IR35
Working pattern: Predominantly site-based, with occasional visits to the Bury office
Rate: Up to £450 per day (DOE)

This is a long-term 12-month rolling contract advertised as outside IR35, suited to someone comfortable combining hands‑on site delivery, project engineering, health and safety, coordination and client liaison.
