A respected M&E contractor in Cambridge seeks an M&E Quantity Surveyor to manage projects up to £10 million. The position offers career progression under the guidance of a Senior QS with exposure to mechanical and electrical services in diverse commercial and healthcare projects.

Reporting to: Senior Quantity Surveyor
Our client is a respected and growing M&E contractor delivering complex building services packages across the East of England. With projects ranging from state-of-the-art hospitals to educational facilities and commercial developments, they pride themselves on quality delivery and long-term client relationships. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an M&E Quantity Surveyor to join their Cambridge office.
This role is ideal for an ambitious M&E Quantity Surveyor looking to progress their career under the guidance of a Senior QS. You will be involved in the full commercial lifecycle across a range of projects up to £10 million, with a strong focus on mechanical services (including ventilation, air conditioning, heating, and plumbing) and electrical systems (including lighting, power distribution, and life safety systems).
Manage cost planning and control across both mechanical and electrical work packages
Prepare, review, and negotiate subcontractor packages including labour and materials
Support with valuations, variations, and final accounts
Collaborate with the Senior QS to ensure accurate monthly reporting and CVRs
Contribute to tender submissions and procurement planning
Ensure change management procedures are followed on live projects
Build and maintain strong relationships with site teams, suppliers, and clients
Ensure compliance with contractual and commercial frameworks (NEC/JCT)
Experience in an M&E Quantity Surveying role (contractor-side preferred)
Strong understanding of mechanical services (HVAC, plumbing, heating) and electrical systems
Familiarity with NEC or JCT forms of contract
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Proactive, organised, and commercially aware
Full UK driving licence
Salary up to £60,000 (based on experience)
