We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Project Engineer to join our Avonmouth team in Bristol.
You'll be providing the link between design and delivery, and the role will involve office and site-based working.
What you'll do
As the M&E Project Engineer, you will work as part of our in-house engineering team and assist in the engineering, management and delivery of MEICA projects at our water recycling centre.
You'll be working closely with M&E Project Managers to ensure projects are fit for purpose to deliver the engineering requirements of the business, while introducing your engineering innovation to help us deliver projects more effectively and efficiently.
You'll provide engineering and constructability input throughout project design and construction phases, challenging conventional approaches to deliver innovative, sustainable and cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
You'll be reviewing design information for compliance with standards and procurement rules, supporting site teams during installation and close-out and leading the sustainable procurement of mechanical and electrical equipment.
You'll also ensure best value through supplier engagement, contract preparation, and technical validation of estimates and forecasts.
Other day-to-day duties will include:
- planning, coordinating, and inputting into the design and engineering aspects of anaerobic digestion or biogas projects
- overseeing the installation, commissioning and optimisation of plant equipment
- ensuring compliance with environmental, safety and engineering standards
- liaising with cross-functional teams, clients and suppliers
- attending hazardous studies and providing input into the management of change processes.
What you'll needYou will also have a technical understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering, along with a keen desire to continually develop your knowledge further.
Ideally, although not essential, you'll have previous experience in the water industry and with CDM and DSEAR/CompEx.
You'll be a great communicator who can demonstrate creative engineering thinking and make decisions effectively.
You'll be comfortable managing your own time and planning your own work. You'll be able to influence at varying levels of the business and have a good commercial awareness with relevant contractual understanding.
Ideally, you will have a HND or degree level in either Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
You will also have proven experience in anaerobic digestion, biogas, or related renewable energy projects with strong project management and communication skills, including a familiarity with process engineering, P&IDs, and HAZOP analysis.
