Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic M&E Lead Engineer with a proven track record in supervising technical engineering teams to join our contract.
The role involves carrying out technical and general duties across a diverse portfolio of commercial buildings. The candidate must be qualified/competent to maintain HV/LV and mechanical building services. They will report to the Head of Operations (South) and will be a key part of the team delivering reactive, planned, and ad hoc maintenance tasks.
Suitable training and up-skilling will be provided to meet the necessary competency standards.
Main Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate a team to deliver maintenance activities, ensuring contractual and compliance obligations are met.
- Schedule and undertake planned preventative maintenance on Mechanical & Electrical installations, focusing on critical building systems to ensure zero operational interruption.
- Monitor all main plant & equipment daily to maintain a safe working environment for building occupants and users.
- Identify and rectify faults proactively through monitoring of plant & equipment.
- Perform ad-hoc and planned maintenance in line with industry standards, regulations, and best practices, including SFG20.
- Ensure all compliance certifications are valid, organized, and up-to-date.
- Communicate with suppliers and contractors for parts and repairs, using the CAFM system aligned with PPM & Reactive activities.
- Liaise with operational teams to ensure safe and compliant service delivery, including sign-off of RAMS and issuance of permits.
- Interface with external bodies to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Follow instructions related to M&E installations or specific requirements from management.
- Ensure reactive tasks are logged and completed within SLA.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns, diagnose faults, and carry out repairs to maintain business continuity, including out-of-hours responses.
Experience
Support a safety culture, ensure compliance with safety standards, and maintain training records. Support safety meetings, audits, and inspections.
Applicants should have at least 5 years' supervisory experience with technical teams in Building Services or Facilities Management, ensuring a safe, compliant working environment in accordance with relevant health and safety legislation.
Essential Skills

- Desirable: City & Guilds 2391 Test and Inspection, Mechanical engineering NVQ Level 3, ACOP L8 Legionella Responsible Person

- Asbestos Responsible Person training
- Maximo Planning & Integration
- Knowledge of Maximo or similar CAFM systems
- BPSS (Baseline) and SC clearance, DV clearance advantageous
- Previous roles as Authorized Person for Electrical, Working at Height, Confined Space, and Asbestos are highly advantageous.
