Job summary

Curve Recruitment seeks an experienced M&E Design Manager to coordinate mechanical and electrical design across multiple projects in Cambridge. You will lead design development from pre-construction through to construction, liaising with external consultants, internal teams and clients to ensure robust, buildable M&E designs and timely delivery.

The role requires a strong background in M&E design management, knowledge of UK regulations, and proficiency with BIM tools.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in M&E design management or senior design coordination.
• Experience in contracting or design & build environments.
• Knowledge of education, commercial, and healthcare projects.
• Strong understanding of UK building regulations and standards.
• Ability to manage multiple design packages and priorities.
• Confident communicator for leading technical discussions.
• Familiarity with BIM and digital design coordination tools.
• Strong IT skills: Outlook, Word, Excel.
• Degree in Building Services / Engineering (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and review M&E design development from pre-construction to live projects.
• Prepare and monitor project design delivery plans.
• Coordinate M&E design with external design consultants.
• Review drawings, specifications and calculations for buildability and compliance.
• Lead design coordination meetings with consultants, clients and internal teams.
• Manage design deliverables in line with programmes and procurement strategies.
• Support tender and pre-construction activities with technical input and VE.
• Issue design progress reports and track milestones against contractual requirements.
• Assist project teams with technical queries during installation, commissioning and handover.
