Job Description

One of my local government clients is currently recruiting an experienced M&E Contracts Manager (Building Services and Maintenance) on a temporary basis. This is a minimum 3-month contract with the possibility of extension. The role is Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with hybrid working; attendance at the office is required 2-3 times a week.

Overview:

  • We are seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Contracts Manager to join our newly formed Compliance service within Building Services of the Housing, Neighbourhood and Building Services Directorate.
  • The role involves managing strategic Term Service Contracts related to mechanical and electrical repair, servicing, and compliance activities, including Gas Servicing and Repairs for our HRA stock of 17,000 dwellings and other corporate assets.
  • The manager will oversee all mechanical and electrical servicing and repair contracts, ensuring proper procurement, management, high service standards, and value for money, with a focus on service improvement.
  • Responsibilities include ensuring policies and procedures are in place and implemented to meet statutory responsibilities, prioritizing safety for the public, staff, and buildings.

Role:

  • Manage Term Service Contracts related to gas servicing and repair in HRA dwellings and mechanical & electrical repairs in commercial properties.
  • Ensure PCC meets statutory compliance duties across relevant service areas.
  • Manage and develop staff responsible for compliance activities and strategic repair contracts.
  • Work towards achieving 100% compliance, collaborating with other service areas to address access issues.
  • Maintain accurate and robust compliance documentation and certification.
  • Manage service budgets (~£10m per annum) to ensure value for money.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and review policies and procedures related to compliance.
  • Stay updated with legislative and industry changes to ensure ongoing statutory compliance and safety.
