Scantec is seeking an experienced M&E Construction Manager with a strong electrical bias to lead delivery on major construction projects for a leading nuclear end client.

This Tier 1 contractor-side role demands a hands-on, delivery-focused professional who can interpret engineering information, challenge issues and support timely design and construction queries while maintaining safety and quality on site.

Qualifications

• Significant experience as an M&E/MEP/Electrical Construction Manager in main contractor or Tier 1 environments.
• Strong understanding of electrical installation, cabling and related systems.
• Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple work packages on site.
• Ability to interpret drawings and technical submissions and resolve design questions.

M&E Construction Manager (Electrical Bias)

My client is looking for an experienced M&E Construction Manager with a strong electrical bias to support the delivery of major construction projects for a leading nuclear end client.

This is a Tier 1 contractor-side construction management role, requiring someone who combines strong site delivery experience with the technical capability to understand engineering information, challenge issues and support the resolution of design and construction queries.

The position is hands-on and delivery focused. It would suit an experienced construction manager who is comfortable operating between the site, design team, subcontractors, client and wider project team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate M&E construction activities from planning and mobilisation through to completion
• Take responsibility for the safe, efficient and timely delivery of M&E works on site
• Manage and coordinate specialist subcontractors, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with programme, quality and technical requirements
• Work closely with the client, design teams and wider project team to manage interfaces and resolve construction issues
• Review drawings, specifications, technical submissions and other engineering information
• Support the preparation and resolution of TQs, RFIs and design queries, particularly across the electrical scope
• Provide practical technical input where design information requires clarification, development or amendment
• Monitor construction progress, quality, compliance and readiness of works
• Coordinate M&E activities with civil, structural, architectural and other project disciplines
• Contribute to construction planning, sequencing, programme development and short-term look-ahead planning
• Identify risks, constraints and potential delivery issues and ensure appropriate action is taken
• Maintain effective communication with the client, subcontractors and wider project stakeholders

Experience and qualifications

You will have:

• Significant experience as an M&E, MEP or Electrical Construction Manager within a main contractor or Tier 1 construction environment
• Strong contractor-side experience delivering complex construction projects
• A good understanding of the wider M&E installation process, combined with a particular strength in electrical installation, cabling and associated systems
• Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple work packages and site interfaces
• A strong understanding of how construction projects are planned, sequenced, controlled and delivered
• The ability to interpret and review drawings, specifications and other technical engineering information
• Experience supporting or resolving TQs, RFIs, design changes and construction queries
• The confidence to engage directly with clients, designers, engineers and senior project stakeholders
• A practical, site-focused approach and the ability to remain closely involved in construction delivery

A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent technical qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related engineering discipline would be highly desirable.

Candidates from a trade background will also be considered where they can demonstrate strong subsequent experience in construction management, project delivery and technical coordination.

Previous experience within nuclear, defence, pharmaceutical, infrastructure or another highly regulated / technically complex environment would be beneficial, although direct nuclear experience is not essential.

Due to the nature of the client, you will either already hold UK SC clearance or above - OR be eligible for the process (UK sole national).
