The Team

You will work on the origination and execution of lead advisory mandates in the mid-market, specialising within the North to help financial services, corporate, and private equity clients across different sectors to achieve their strategic objectives of buying or selling their company. This includes activities from initial strategic review to successful completion. This is an ideal opportunity for candidates to join a growing and ambitious team as a sector specialist.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage M&A projects (with support from and reporting to the Associate Director/Director/Partner), including being the day-to-day point of contact for clients.
  • Actively manage client interfaces, taking responsibility for all phases of the transaction cycle and deal execution.
  • Lead and manage the delivery of marketing documentation, pitch materials, and client proposals.
  • Direct and oversee junior colleagues, analysts, and support staff on M&A transactions, including reviewing their work.
  • Coach and contribute to the development of junior team members.
  • Set, monitor, and control M&A project budgets, billing, and other reporting requirements.
  • Proactively assist with business development efforts, including pitching for new work.

Experience & Background

  • Relevant corporate finance experience in an investment bank, property consultancy, Big 4, mid-tier, or private equity firm.
  • Significant transactional experience with a proven track record of deal execution across all deal lifecycle phases, especially sell-side transactions.
  • Experience working on transactions involving private equity is preferred.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Personal drive and integrity to deliver results within demanding timelines.
  • Commitment to high-quality standards and a detail-oriented approach.
  • Independent thinker capable of identifying problems and developing solutions.
  • Comfort discussing financially related commercial issues.
  • Financial modelling skills, including LBO & DCF analysis.
  • Strong academic background.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Personable team player capable of building confidence and trust with colleagues and clients.
  • Able to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and market contacts.
