KPMG in London is seeking an M&A Manager – Energy to lead origination and execution of mid-market transactions in the energy sector. You will manage deal cycles and serve as the day-to-day client contact.

The role offers exposure to high-profile advisory work within a collaborative team, requiring strong financial modelling, stakeholder management and a track record of delivering deals on time.

Qualifications

  • Significant transactional and deal execution experience across all deal phases.
  • Experience in investment banking, property consultancy, Big Four or private equity.
  • Experience advising clients or executing transactions in non-regulated sectors.
  • Experience with private equity deals desirable.
  • Personal drive and integrity, with the ability to deliver results within tight deadlines.
  • Independent mindset with problem-solving ability.
  • Strong communication of financially related commercial issues.
  • Personable and collaborative, capable of building client trust.

Responsibilities

  • Manage M&A projects (with support from and reporting into Associate Director / Director / Partner) including being the day to day point of contact for clients.
  • Actively managing client interfaces taking responsibility for managing all phases of the transaction cycle and deal execution.
  • Leading and managing the delivery of marketing documentation, as well as pitch materials and client proposals
  • Directing and managing junior colleagues, analysts and support staff on M&A transactions, including reviewing their work
  • Coaching and contributing to the development of junior team members
  • Set, monitor and control M&A project budgets, billing and other reporting requirements
  • Taking responsibility for, and proactively assisting business development efforts, including pitching for new work

What will you be doing?

What will you need to do it?
Essential skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients, colleagues and market contacts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence communicating complex financial and commercial matters clearly
  • Financial modelling experience, including LBO and DCF analysis
  • Strong numerical, analytical and strategic-thinking skills
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deliver to demanding timetables
Experience and background
  • Significant transactional and deal execution experience across all phases of the deal lifecycle, from origination through to completion, particularly sell-side transactions
  • Relevant corporate finance experience gained within an investment bank, property consultancy, Big Four or mid-tier firm, or private equity firm
  • Ideally, experience advising clients or executing transactions in a non-regulated sector
  • Experience of working on transactions involving private equity is desirable
  • Personal drive and integrity, with the ability to deliver results within tight deadlines
  • A commitment to high-quality standards and a detail-oriented approach
  • An independent mindset, with the ability to identify problems and contribute to the development of solutions
  • Confidence discussing financially related commercial issues
  • A strong academic background
  • A personable and collaborative approach, with the ability to create confidence and trust with colleagues and clients
