Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Lymphoedema Service within Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. To deliver specialist Lymphoedema services, including initial assessments, treatments and follow-ups in Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust locations working as part of a small specialised team.

Main duties of the job
  • The Post Holder will work within a small team delivering Lymphoedema treatment/management taking into account Local, Regional and National Policy direction in line with Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust
  • To provide a fully comprehensive service, including initial assessment, intensive treatment packages and follow-ups
  • To deliver an efficient and effective service for patients according to best and evidence-based practice and utilising appropriate software
  • To raise awareness of the condition and the service
  • Adhere to excellent standards of care within the Lymphoedema Service

Job responsibilities
  • To provide the highest standard of evidence-based care for people affected by chronic oedema; both primary and secondary Lymphoedema
  • Must have some experience and knowledge of Lymphoedema management.
  • To undertake assessment, treatment, and management of own caseload of service users
  • To demonstrate the required skills including assessment of the physical, psychological, psychosocial, and environmental needs of the service user and liaising appropriately with the Lead Lymphoedema Practitioner where appropriate
  • To demonstrate an enhanced level of knowledge expertise in the planning and implementation of management programmes including intensive treatment programmes and self-management techniques
  • To maintain comprehensive and accurate patient records in relation to thelegal implications and the organisational requirements
  • To evaluate and monitor a service users response to treatment and adapt management programmes accordingly.
  • To monitor clinical effectiveness against best practice and research
  • To promote the health of service users and assist in the prevention of secondary complications for people with Lymphoedema, through enabling and encouraging independence, provision of support, facilitation of advice and information, provision of equipment, education, and training.
  • To provide prompt assessment and management of Lymphoedema at the end of life
Person Specification
  • Registered first /second level nurse or allied health professional
  • Lymphoedema/ Chronic Oedema qualification or equivalent course
  • Minimum 6 months post registration experience
  • Experience of supervising junior staff and/or students
  • Experience working in a community setting
  • Experience and knowledge of Lymphoedema management
