Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse or Therapist with Professional State Registration (HCPC/NMC).

Job description

Here at Dorothy House we provide compassionate care and support for people in our community with a life-limiting illness. Using our full breadth of service, we create individual care journeys which start at diagnosis and continue with bereavement support for family, carers and children.

We are looking for a registered nurse or therapist with strong clinical skills and a passion for patient-centred care. You will thrive in a collaborative environment, balancing autonomy with team involvement, and be committed to improving quality of life for those living with Lymphoedema.

LYMPHOEDEMA PRACTITONER | Band 6 | £37,338 - £44,962 per annum (pro rata)

As a Band 6 Lymphoedema Practitioner, you will play a key role in delivering specialist Lymphoedema assessment and treatment across Dorothy House inpatient, outpatient and community settings. This includes managing a caseload of both palliative and non-palliative patients, developing individualised treatment plans, and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Your clinical leadership and specialist knowledge will also support internal colleagues, external healthcare professionals, and third sector partners. You'll help shape best practice in Lymphoedema care, mentor junior team members, and contribute to clinical education, service development and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Holistic assessment, triage, and management of Lymphoedema cases
  • Delivering care using techniques such as SLD, MLD, multi-layer bandaging and compression therapy
  • Supporting patients through tailored care plans, group therapy and 1:1 support
  • Advising and educating healthcare professionals and carers
  • Contributing to service development, audit and innovation
  • Attending team meetings and community visits
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff and students
  • Participating in training and education both internally and externally

HOURS OF WORK

This is a Part Time role working 22.5 hours per week.
We also have Bank positions available and welcome applications from those looking for work, simply specify on your application which you are looking.

This role will be based both at our Dorothy House Hospice in Winsley and out in our community.

ABOUT YOU

Essential requirements:

  • Registered First Level Nurse or Therapist with Professional State Registration (HCPC/NMC)
  • Experience of Lymphoedema management
  • Experience working in the field of palliative care
  • Up to date knowledge of the bigger picture, developments in the NHS and in social care
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to practice hands on clinical skills and flexibly respond to all areas of the Lymphoedema service
  • Can demonstrate supporting the development of integrated working across boundaries of health and social care
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle

Desirable requirements:

  • Post Graduate training in palliative care
  • Lymphoedema specific training
  • Experience of tissue viability
  • Experience working within the community
  • Demonstrating knowledge of clinical innovation relevant to the role
