Job summary

Skilled Careers is recruiting an LV Authorised Person (AP) to join a major hospital project in Wimbledon, Southwest London. The role focuses on managing LV electrical systems, isolations, and safety across a technically complex healthcare build within a large project team.

The successful candidate will work with Electrical Engineers, Project Managers and subcontractors to coordinate LV activities, maintain permits, and support commissioning through energisation on a nine-month contract.

Qualifications

LV AUTHORISED PERSON (AP) - MAJOR HOSPITAL PROJECT

Wimbledon, Southwest London | 9-Month Contract | Tier 1 MEP Contractor

We are currently looking for an experienced LV Authorised Person (AP) to join the project team of a leading Tier 1 MEP contractor on a major hospital development based in the Wimbledon area.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced electrical professional to become part of a large-scale, technically complex healthcare project, working alongside an established site and engineering team throughout a key stage of the build.

The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining electrical safety across the project, ensuring all LV works, isolations, switching activities and associated procedures are carried out safely and in line with the project's Electrical Safety Rules.

The Role

As the LV Authorised Person, you will be responsible for supporting the safe management and control of the project's LV electrical systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Acting as the designated LV Authorised Person in accordance with the project's Electrical Safety Rules and procedures.
• Taking responsibility for the safe isolation, switching and reinstatement of LV electrical systems.
• Preparing, issuing and managing permits to work, limitation of access and electrical safety documentation.
• Reviewing electrical systems and ensuring appropriate isolation procedures are implemented before work commences.
• Carrying out and/or overseeing switching operations in accordance with approved procedures.
• Supporting the wider project team with electrical safety, energisation and commissioning activities.
• Liaising closely with Electrical Engineers, Project Managers, Commissioning Managers, Site Managers and specialist subcontractors.
• Ensuring electrical works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, method statements, risk assessments and project procedures.
• Maintaining accurate records of isolations, switching operations, permits and electrical safety documentation.
• Supporting the testing, commissioning and energisation of LV systems as the project progresses.
• Identifying potential electrical safety issues and ensuring these are appropriately managed and escalated.
• Working closely with the wider MEP team to ensure safe coordination of electrical activities on a busy live construction environment.

About You

We are looking for someone with a strong background in LV electrical systems and construction, ideally with previous experience working as an Authorised Person on large-scale MEP projects.

You should have:

• Proven experience working as an LV Authorised Person / LV AP.
• Strong knowledge of LV electrical systems, isolation procedures and electrical safety.
• Previous experience within a major MEP / construction environment.
• Experience working on large-scale commercial, healthcare, infrastructure or similarly complex projects would be advantageous.
• A good understanding of Electrical Safety Rules and permit-to-work systems.
• The ability to confidently manage electrical isolations and switching activities.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• A professional approach to health, safety and compliance.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a large project team.
• Relevant electrical qualifications and AP training/authorisation.

The Project

You will be joining a major hospital project in the Wimbledon area, providing the opportunity to work on a technically demanding healthcare environment with a Tier 1 MEP contractor.

The project will involve a wide range of complex MEP systems, requiring a high level of coordination between electrical, mechanical, commissioning and construction teams.
