Lung Screening Nurses

We are looking to expand our Lung Screening Service!

To reach this goal, we are looking for dedicated Registered Nurses to provide a holistic assessment of the patients and their families using clinical judgment, specialist knowledge and excellent interpersonal and communications skills and to represent the views and act as an advocate for patients during the screening process

You MUST hold a valid UK NMC pin for this role. PRN and non NMC pins cannot be accepted and unfortunately, your application will not be shortlisted.

Travel across the trust footprint is required to support patients and staff at screening locations.

Main duties of the job

Initially, to support the lead assessor nurse working with lead clinicians, program manager and other key stakeholders to establish standard operating procedures, policies and processes to support the effective delivery of the new lung screening service.

The core duties of the role are:

  • Provide specialist knowledge and information resources for Multidisciplinary staff, colleagues, patients, and families.
  • Ensure cost effective use of resources.
  • The post holder, along with the rest of the lung screening team will work to deliver evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives.
  • The principal role of the post holder is to work within a high-quality screening service to meet the needs of the patient requiring screening.
  • Assist with the flow of patients through the screening program, supporting patients and working within a clinical and non-clinical MDT team.

Person Specification
Experience
  • Experience at Band 5 or equivalent within the lung, critical care, or cancer specialty
  • Experience of undertaking audit and standard setting
  • Experience of respiratory condition recognition and management
  • Research experience
  • Experience of clinical teaching / clinical education roles
Knowledge
  • An understanding of the national lung screening programme
  • An understanding of national guidance on cancer pathway, specifically within lung.
Qualifications
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Non-medical prescribing, or commitment to work towards
