Job summary

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a senior manager to lead complex programmes within the NHS framework. The role requires strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement and the ability to deliver measurable improvements across services.

Essential criteria
  • Master's degree or equivalent demonstrable experience at senior level
  • Prince 2 or other project management qualification or experience in managing complex programmes
Desirable criteria
  • Clinical qualification e.g. nursing or physiotherapy

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent motivational, influencing and negotiating skills, with proven success with clinicians, directors, external organisations and stakeholders
  • Proven presentation in a variety of settings with stakeholders and the public/patient involvement representatives
  • Organisationally & politically aware
  • Able to think strategically and evaluate the long-term impact of proposals
  • Excellent analytical skills. Able to analyse reports and complex data, challenge data and act appropriately.
  • Competent in use of IT programmes, Microsoft office literate
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering and managing improvement projects/programmes
  • Appropriate years' experience working at a senior management level in the NHS with operational experience
  • Experience of leading a team
  • Experience in delivering change programmes and demonstrate measurable improvements
  • Experience in delivering service improvements
  • Experience in writing reports and business cases
  • Experience in analysing and interpreting complex data
  • Experience and delivery of elective and non-elective patient activity management
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in managing national programmes
  • Experience in managing a cancer screening programme
