Job summary

Norristhorpe Junior and Infant School is seeking a caring Lunchtime Supervisor to provide dedicated support for a child with additional needs during lunchtime. You will help the child have a positive, safe and enjoyable lunchtime experience and work under the direction of the Inclusion Team.

Hours are 12pm to 1pm, term time only. This is a fixed-term Autumn Term 2026 position with potential extension based on need. DBS enhanced disclosure will be required.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children, ideally those with additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide close supervision and support for a child with additional needs during lunchtime.
• Encourage positive behaviour and help the child follow school expectations and routines.
• Support the child in developing friendships and social interaction skills.
• Facilitate and encourage participation in playground games and activities.
• Help the child to manage transitions between lunchtime activities.
• Work closely with teaching staff and the Inclusion Team to ensure consistent support strategies are in place.
• Promote the child's independence, confidence and wellbeing.
• Ensure the safety and welfare of the child at all times.
• Oversee any medical needs for the child over the lunchtime period.
