St Mary’s Catholic Primary Academy is seeking a Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant to support children during lunchtime. The role is part-time, term time only, with hours 11.45am to 1.15pm, Monday to Friday (7.5 hours per week).

Salary is pro rata, with a stated annual range and an actual pro rata amount based on hours worked. Responsibilities include supervising pupils at lunch, helping with meals and safety, and supporting play and behaviour in line with school policy.

Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant

St Mary’s Catholic Primary Academy is looking to appoint a Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant who is able to relate well to children and support their needs during lunchtime.

The role is part-time, term time only. The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 11.45am - 1.15pm, (7.5 hours per week)

£26,427- £26,847 per annum pro rata

Actual annual salary £4,508.98-£4,580.64

Duties include:

• Ensure that pupils wash their hands before they eat;
• Escort pupils to and from the dining area, as necessary;
• Ensure that pupils having a school lunch are in the dining room at the correct time;
• Help younger pupils at the servery counter with the proper use of cutlery, and help them cut up their food when necessary;
• Assist pupils with the return of the used plates, trays, cutlery and beakers, and with the cleaning of tables when lunch is finished;
• Supervise pupils eating food bought from home, and ensure that all packed-lunch equipment is cleared away after use;
• Report to the Senior Midday Supervisor any child whose diet may give rise for concern;
• Take charge of groups of children in the playground or classroom, depending on the weather;
• Devise and initiate constructive play opportunities for children;
• Ensure that children remain within a safe environment, and that they play safely;
• Set suitable behaviour standards in line with school policy;
• Help children acquire social skills;
• Attend to minor accidents sustained during the midday break, and seek appropriate assistance if necessary;
• Attend to any pupil who becomes ill during the midday break, and again seek appropriate assistance;
• Report to the Senior Midday Supervisor any acts that constitute serious infringements of school rules;
• Liaise effectively and professionally with staff, teachers and parents, as required;
• Attend training, as required.
