Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a dedicated lunchtime supervisor for William Shrewsbury Primary School. The term-time role covers 38 weeks a year and 6.25 hours per week, focusing on supervising pupils during lunch, encouraging positive play and promoting good behaviour.

You will also support staff by setting up and clearing dining areas, liaising with teachers on lunchtime needs, and upholding safeguarding standards.

Qualifications

• Caring, active and friendly, with a warm and approachable manner.
• Enthusiastic and able to work proactively as part of a team.
• Effective communicator with pupils and staff.
• Good standard of literacy and basic computer skills.
• Builds positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Fluent spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Supervise pupils during lunch breaks in the dining hall, playground and other areas
• Encourage positive play and social interaction
• Promote good behaviour and follow school policies
• Build trusting connections with pupils to support emotional wellbeing and a sense of belonging
• Model respectful, kind and calm communication to support the school's culture and values
• Help set up and clear the dining area as needed
• Liaise with teaching and support staff on lunchtime concerns that need follow-up
