Job summary

Old Swinford Hospital in the West Midlands is seeking a Lunchtime Supervisor to monitor day pupils in lounges and dining rooms, ensuring safety, order and cleanliness during lunch periods.

The role runs Monday to Friday 12:45 pm to 2:00 pm, term time, with a rate of £12.71 per hour plus statutory holiday pay. A workplace pension through NEST is offered where eligible.

Job description

Old Swinford Hospital is one of the country’s leading state boarding schools. The majority of the School’s students are boarders who come from a wide range of backgrounds in the UK and also from the EU and overseas. A third of our pupils are day pupils, who usually go home after lessons, unless they are involved in sport or music, CCF or DofE. The School is now on an exciting journey to become fully co-educational by September 2025. Girls joined us in September 2021 in Year 7, whilst the Sixth Form has been mixed since 2004.

Job Specification

Lunchtime supervisors have a range of duties and responsibilities:

• Effectively supervising the day students in the two base lounges or in the school dining rooms;
• Dealing with misbehaviour and reporting any problems to a member of Senior Leadership Team (SLT);
• Ensuring the lounges are kept clean and tidy;
• Ensure good health and safety regulations are adhered to at all times, for example, cleaning up spillage and reporting any issues;
• Being aware of responsibilities under child protection legislation, and reporting concerns to DSL;
• To record and report all accidents by following company procedures;
• Complete all training required;
• To carry out all reasonable duties as requested by any member of SLT.

Remuneration & Hours

Hours of work are Monday to Friday 12.45 pm to 2.00 pm – a total of 6.25 per week, term time.

The rate of pay is currently £12.71 (NLW) per hour plus statutory holiday pay.

In line with current regulation you will, if you are eligible, be offered a workplace pension through NEST.
