Job summary

Woolmer Hill School in Castleford is seeking a midday supervisor to help keep pupils safe during lunch breaks. You will supervise the playground, fields, cloakrooms and classrooms, and assist with clearing away food and equipment after meals.

You will respond to minor first aid incidents, support behaviour management, observe pupil conduct and report any concerns to the appropriate staff. Additional duties include helping supervise other activities and setting out or storing equipment.

Qualifications

• Supervise the playground area, playing fields, cloakrooms and classrooms during lunchtimes.
• Assist with the removal of food and equipment after pupils have eaten lunch.
• Deal with minor first aid incidents; follow procedures for recording and reporting.
• Assist in implementing appropriate behaviour management strategies as required.
• Observe pupil behaviour, understand its context, and report any concerns to staff.
• Resolve minor disputes between pupils.
• Assist in supervising other midday break activities, including setting out and storing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise lunchtime areas and ensure pupils are safe and supervised.
• Support with clearing away food and materials after meals.

• Monitor behaviour and report concerns to supervising staff.
• Assist in managing lunchtime activities and equipment storage.

Required to work indoors and outdoors when supervising the children and young people to ensure their safety:

• Supervise the playground area, playing fields, cloakrooms and classrooms etc. during the lunchtime break.
• Assist with the removal of food and equipment once pupils have eaten their lunch.
• Deal with minor first aid incidents; follow appropriate procedures for recording and reporting.
• Assist in the implementation of appropriate behaviour management strategies as required.
• Observe a child or young person's behaviour, understand its context, and notice any unexpected changes and report any inappropriate behaviour to the correct member of staff.
• Resolve minor disputes between pupils.
• Assist in the supervision of other activities during the midday break, including setting out and storing equipment.
