Job summary

Knebworth Primary and Nursery School is seeking a warm, energetic Play Team member to transform lunchtimes into engaging, safe learning moments for children aged 4–11. The role covers outdoor play and dining hall tasks, working with the play leader to provide exciting, age‑appropriate play experiences and supportive child development through daily lunch-time activities.

The successful candidate will be outdoors in all weather, support positive relationships, and uphold safeguarding policies.

Qualifications

• Willing to undertake First Aid and OPAL training.
• Enthusiasm for play, safety and child wellbeing during lunchtime.

Responsibilities

• Cover lunchtime tasks daily as part of the Play Team, including outdoor sessions and dining hall activities.
• Ensure access to age‑appropriate play opportunities and support positive relationships.
• Facilitate play, act as an ambassador for play, and promote safe, inclusive environments.
• Assess play areas for risks and implement necessary changes; assist with equipment handling.
• Provide first aid to pupils when trained and support eating, hygiene, and social skills.
• Clear and clean the hall during service and assist with waste, trays, and cutlery.
• Offer pastoral care and advice during lunchtime and contribute to team training.
