Job summary

Greenshaw Learning Trust, serving Waterwells Primary School, seeks a Lunchtime Assistant & Play Worker to support daily lunch and play activities. You will help prepare children for lunch, supervise handwashing, set up dining spaces, and foster safe, engaging outdoor play to encourage social, active, and creative activities.

The role involves assisting with meals, supervising play, and reporting incidents, with opportunities to undertake CPD in play work, first aid, and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Willingness to attend play work CPD and to gain qualifications in play work, first-aid and safeguarding
• Experience of interacting with Primary age children
• Enjoy working with young people and a positive attitude towards diverse backgrounds
• Strong team work skills and being part of a team
• Friendly approachable manner
• Dependability with good time keeping
• Willingness to try new things

Responsibilities

• Assist children at lunch
• Set up, clean, pack down and store dining furniture
• Facilitate play opportunities and act as an ambassador for play
• Ensure a safe site for play for all children
• Ensure children visit the dining hall and eat their lunch
• Assess play areas and implement changes as required
• Assist with putting out and packing away play equipment
• Record and report incidents and first aid
• Provide care, support and advice to children during lunchtime
• Promote and safeguard welfare of all children in line with policies
• Attend team meetings and training for professional development
