About the Role

Autism Anglia and Doucecroft School, based in Colchester, are seeking a Lunchtime Learning Support Assistant. The successful candidate will support students in their learning environment, during activities, break times, and lunch periods, as part of the Learning Support Assistants Team. The role involves facilitating a supportive and safe environment for learning, suitable for those who enjoy supporting students both individually and in groups.

Working Hours and Salary
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:30 am - 2:00 pm (term-time only)
  • Salary: £9,871.79 per annum (Term Time only)
About Doucecroft School

Doucecroft School is a vibrant, dynamic, and supportive specialist co-educational school for children and young people with autism and complex needs, aged 3-19 years. It holds a 'Good' Ofsted rating and offers a nurturing environment, bespoke education, and a focus on quality-of-life outcomes with support from specialist therapists and a skilled education team.

The Role Responsibilities
  • Support students in classroom, activities, and during breaks
  • Assist teachers and contribute to lessons and schemes of work
  • Work with small groups or individual students across various settings
  • Support students in physical activities such as swimming, horse riding, and ice skating
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the educational setting
  • Promote and comply with school policies on child protection, safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality, and data protection
Candidate Requirements
  • Experience in childcare and child development
  • Maths and English GCSE Grade C or above
  • Excellent observational and organisational skills
  • NVQ Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning (desirable)
  • Swimming rescue qualification (desirable)
  • Experience working with students with autism or learning disabilities (advantageous)
  • Driving license (desirable)
